Black-and-White Warbler (Mniotilta varia)
General appearance is its distinguished black and white stripes. Found primarily in forests other than when migrating at which times it will be seen in lawn areas with trees and shrubs. Prefers a ground nest composed of leaves, grass, and rootlets lined with hair and fern down. Is known for its conspicuous habit of creeping around tree trunks and along branches in search of insect food. Five inches in length. Weight, 0.3 ounces.
