Red-bellied Woodpecker - Male (melanerpes carolinus)
Known for its distinctive black and white bars on the wings, back, and tail. The back of the neck and head is bright red. (male). Found in woodlands, parks, and suburbs. Nests in excavated trees and birdhouses. Is attracted to feeders with suet and hulled sunflower seed. Length is 9 inches.
