Northern Cardinal- Male (Cardinalis cardinalis)
All red with a crest- black on the face and around the base of the reddish bill. Found primarily around shrubs and near open areas, woods and suburban yards. Nests in twigs and leaves in shrubbery and small trees. Will feed on feeder foods including sunflower seed, safflower seed, cracked corn, and mixed seed. Eight and one-half inches in length. Weight, 1.6 ounces.
