Brilliant blue head, back, wings, and tail with brick red throat and breast. Found in farmland and rural suburban yards. Nests in grasses and pine needles placed in natural cavities or in bird houses. May come to feeders with suet and berries, however, it is known for its natural feeding tendencies rather than seeking feeder diets. Six and one-half inches in length. Weight, 1.1 ounces.
